CHEM Trust will be hosting a fringe event at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this year, ‘PFAS are forever: how do we address the pollution crisis threatening public health and the environment’.

Focus of the event:
PFAS, ‘the forever chemicals’ pollute food sold in UK supermarkets, drinking water, soil, the air and dust in our homes as well as our rivers and seas.
The Environmental Audit Committee recently launched an inquiry into PFAS to better understand the risks posed by these substances and what, if anything needs to change about the UK’s approach to these chemicals.
This panel discussion will outline the severity of PFAS pollution in the UK, the EAC inquiry’s work thus far, and what is needed to tackle this pollution at source. Refreshments will be provided.
For our panel of speakers, we are delighted to welcome our Chair Adam Jogee, MP for Newscastle-under-Lyme, Anna Gelderd, MP for South East Cornwall and Lorraine Beavers, MP for Blackpool North and Fleetwood. Also speaking will be Sarah Moore, Partner at law firm Leigh Day, to discuss their work investigating PFAS pollution on behalf of individuals and communities in England, and Dr Shubhi Sharma, CHEM Trust’s PFAS expert.
