This September, CHEM Trust will be hosting an event at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, in partnership with The Rivers Trust, and SERA, Labour’s environment campaign. The theme will be, ‘Clean water, clear future: How Labour can reverse the chemical crisis in our rivers’.

Focus of the event:
Chemical pollution is harming our rivers, seas, and wildlife, and ultimately our health as it ends up in our food and drinking water. However, this ‘invisible’ and rapidly growing problem is often overlooked.
Join us to hear MPs, industry and civil society highlight what practical solutions are available to us to address this environmental and public health crisis.
This panel will expose the scale and impacts of contamination from harmful chemicals, including PFAS ‘forever chemicals’, and their widespread impact on humans and nature.
For our panel of speakers, we’re delighted to welcome Lorraine Beavers, MP for Blackpool North and Fleetwood. We will be hearing about the problem that PFAS pollution poses for investors from Eugenie Mathieu, the Nature Stewardship Lead at investment firm Aviva, and about how chemical pollution is impacting water companies from Jo Harrison, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Sustainability at United Utilities. CHEM Trust’s Director of Policy and Advocacy, Dr Anna Watson, and Head of Policy at The Rivers Trust, Rob Collins, will also be giving their perspectives on this vital issue.
