Collaboration

CHEM Trust collaborates with a wide range of organisations, including civil society organisations, at EU level, within the UK and internationally.

For example, many of our policy submissions are joint with other organisations in the EU or around the world.

Here are some specific examples:

Reports where CHEM Trust has provided expert input

  • Ellen MacArthur Foundation report “The New Plastics Economy: Rethinking the future of plastics“, January 2016.
  • Ellen MacArthur Foundation report “A new textiles economy: Redesigning fashion’s future“, November 2017.

UK level collaboration

  • We work closely with a number of other organisations, including Breast Cancer UK (BCUK), Pesticides Action Network UK (PAN UK) and the Cancer Prevention & Education Society (CPES).
  • We are members of Wildlife and Countryside Link.
  • We also provide advice to organisations such as Friends of the Earth and WWF-UK.
  • We are members of the Repeal Bill Alliance, which aims to “ensure that the Repeal Bill does not result in a power grab by ministers and a sidelining of the devolved nations in the Brexit process“.

EU level collaboration

  • We are part of the EDC-free alliance; we provide technical advice to the other partners, as well as working together on strategy and communications.
  • We are a member of the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), collaborating closely with groups around Europe on chemicals policy.
  • We work closely with other civil society groups working on chemicals policy & REACH, including the European Trade Union Council (ETUC), Greenpeace, International Chemical Secretariat (ChemSec), Client Earth and the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL).
  • We are on the advisory committee for ChemSec’s “Substitute it Now” (SIN) list.
  • We are members of the Better Regulation Watchdog.
  • We support the TTIP: Private profit versus public health campaign to remove chemicals from the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations; see also our blogs on TTIP.

International collaboration

  • CHEM Trust is a participating organisation in the International POPS Elimination Network (IPEN).
  • We are in regular contact with many US civil society groups who work on chemicals and endocrine disrupters, for example The Endocrine Disrupter Exchange (TEDX), the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE).
  • We also work with international civil society groups such as the Centre for International Environmental Law (CIEL), for example in our work on the EU-US trade negotiations (TTIP).
  • We have also provided advice to civil society groups in other countries, for example WWF Australia.
