Chemical pollution in rivers: CHEM Trust’s fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference

CHEM Trust is co-hosting a fringe event at this year’s Conservative Party Conference ‘Restoring the health of our rivers: addressing the chemical pollution undermining their resilience’.  We are running this in partnership with Breast Cancer UK and Wildlife and Countryside Link.

The event will provide an opportunity to raise the topic of chemical pollution in rivers and discuss policy solutions needed to address this urgent issue. We have a fantastic line up, with the Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee, Rt Hon Philip Dunne MP speaking, along with Christine Colvin from the Rivers Trust and Richard Benwell from Wildlife and Countryside Link.

Venue: Library of Birmingham, B1 2EA (Room LOB 102)

Time: Monday 3rd October, 5:30-6:30pm

Focus of the event:

“A ‘chemical cocktail’ of sewage, slurry and plastic is polluting English rivers” was the conclusion of the Environmental Audit Committee’s inquiry into water quality. The event will focus on the chemical contamination of our rivers and policy solutions needed to restore their health.
